Fresh Green Chinese Peapods

Peapods 2011

Fresh Green Chinese Peapods

Summer is here… take a look at what we harvested from our garden this morning!!!  10 lbs of chinese peapods, simply  unbelievable considering that we don’t know what we’re doing yet. Actually husband did some research so he kind of know what he’s doing. I think he planted them in Jan-February. Surprisingly, they survived the cold sometimes frosty days we had here in California.

Let’s see, what are we going to do with them? They are really good stir fried alone or with chicken or beef.  We cooked them once before in mongolian beef but the sauce is too strong and salty that it takes away the freshness of the peapods. A more subtle sauce would’ve been better. Stir fry alone in olive oil was good. It was also great in chicken with veggie soup. We’ll be giving some away to the kids and if there’s more left, we’ll blanch and freeze them for later use. Add them in winter soup, that sounds good.

The picture also shows that the sweet peas are just about ready. We’re looking forward to those treat too!!! Wow…
