For many days we watched a couple of birds fly around circling this oak tree in front of our house. They would go inside and out of tree trunk through some open cracks all day long. Soon enough there were chirping sounds heard coming from the tree. It wasn’t long until many more birds start to fly near the opening but they get chased away by the mommy and daddy birds. A few days later we see little heads peeking through the opening and then mommy and daddy birds would feed their baby birds while on flight. There’s no place to land so they flapped their wings and fed the little ones at the same time. It was a sight to see as it all happens so fast. Just imagine looking at three baby birds with their mouth wide open as they see their mommy or daddy approaching. And somehow they each something to eat. Very captivating to watch!
After looking at some bird pictures, we think these are the White-Breasted Nuthatch birds. Here’s the picture of the 3 baby birds just before they took off and flew away on their own. Watching them take off on their first flight is another fun story to share. Someday!
